Grief Support

Hospice of Northwest Ohio provides several support groups and workshops to help people cope with the loss of a loved one. While some people may be afraid to join a group at first, we recommend they give it a try. Group members usually feel very comfortable giving and receiving support in the group with others who share similar concerns.

All groups are provided free of charge and are available to anyone in the community, whether or not they have had previous involvement with Hospice of Northwest Ohio. All support group meetings are conducted by professional counselors, with trained volunteers. For more information, or to register, contact the bereavement team at 419-661-4001 or 734-568-6801.

Meeting with a Hospice of Northwest Ohio grief counselor is required before participation in any group.  Please call the bereavement team to discuss a time and date that will work for you and your family. This will be a time for you to share your story and hear about the bereavement program.

Coping with Loss

THIS IS AN ONGOING GROUP – Advance Registration Required
Twice monthly, ongoing interactive grief support group for adults who are adjusting to the loss of any loved one.

2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Toledo Center

1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Michigan Office

Spousal or Partner Loss

THIS IS AN ONGOING GROUP – Advance Registration Required
Twice monthly, ongoing grief support group open to any man or woman who has experienced the death of a life partner or spouse.

1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Toledo Center

2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Perrysburg Center

2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Perrysburg Center

Walking through Grief

TWICE-A-MONTH GROUP - Advance Registration Required
Interactive grief support group for adults who are adjusting to the loss of any loved one.

2nd and 4th Fridays, May - September from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Perrysburg Center
(first session to be held Friday, May 23)

Gentle Yoga for Grief

SIX-WEEK GROUP - Advance Registration Required
Open to any adult who is grieving - regardless of fitness level, age and flexibility. Participants will work through the energetic and emotional blocks of grief to find peace. 

Friday April 18, 25 and May 2, 9, 16, 23 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Toledo Center

Path Finders Camp

FOUR-DAY Camp Experience - Advance Registration Required
Open to kids and teens age 6-15 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. 

July 29, 30, 31 and August 1 at Camp Miakonda, Sylvania, OH

Holiday Grief Workshop

ONE-TIME GROUP – Advance Registration Required
Open to grieving adults and children who are facing the winter holidays and trying to cope with loss.

Annual Memorial Service

ONCE-A-YEAR – Registration Not Required
Annual non-denomination service of remembrance. Invitations are mailed to those who have lost a loved one going back about one year from the date of the service. Others are welcome to attend.
