Giving Tuesday
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is an annual day of giving held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year on December 1. It gives our community a focused, 24-hour opportunity to come together online to support a specific project that brings comfort to the people we serve.
Our Project for 2026: Paws for Comfort
In hospice care, some of the most meaningful moments happen without words, in the quiet comfort of a hand being held at the bedside or a furry friend on your lap. Through Paws for Comfort, Hospice of Northwest Ohio is taking the steps to adopt, train, and care for a dedicated therapy dog.
A trained therapy dog brings a calm, grounding presence that helps:
Patients: Ease anxiety, loneliness, and restlessness during difficult moments.
Families and Caregivers: Provide a brief emotional reset for families keeping vigil and for our clinical teams between demanding bedside visits.
The Goal and Matching Gift
Our goal for the day is $15,000!
A generous member of the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Foundation Board has offered to match dollar-for-dollar every gift up to $7.500 – doubling your impact.
What these Funds Cover:
- Professional dog training and handler training for aff
- Therapeutic equipment, vest and harnesses
- Ongoing wellness care including routine vet visits, vaccinations and food
How You Can Help
