Staffing and Expertise

While most area hospices have a part-time medical director, Hospice of Northwest Ohio has a whole team of medical professionals on staff, including:

  • 8 physicians and 1 advance practice nurse whose careers are fully devoted to hospice and palliative care; 7 of the physicians are board certified in hospice and palliative care.
  • 1 full-time clinical pharmacist who specializes in pain and symptom management, and is available 24/7 to assist the medical and nursing staff.
  • 300+ nurses and aides, 47% of whom are certified in hospice and palliative care, compared to a national staff certification average of 20%.
