Tanner, beloved resident therapy dog at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Perrysburg Center since 2001, passed away in his sleep early this morning. He touched the lives of thousands patients and families who were comforted by his gentle “presence” during their time spent at Hospice.

An 11-year-old golden retriever, Tanner was a licensed therapy dog trained by Assistance Dogs of America. He is best remembered for making the rounds to patient rooms, visiting with families and bearing it all for a belly rub.

“He was a very special member of our team who provided a nice diversion and sense of normalcy, especially for children,” says Hospice of Northwest Ohio Executive Director Judy Seibenick. “He will be greatly missed by everyone associated with Hospice of Northwest Ohio.”
